I can’t even remember the last time I printed photos. I received darling photo books all put together just waiting for pictures of our babies to fill their already decorated pages. Sammi’s got mostly filled before we went digital with our camera. Elli’s is completely empty. Scott didn’t even get a book. I’ve had a lot of guilt over that.
A few months ago I started thinking about attempting digital scrapbooking. But I had no idea where to start, software, printing, layouts, creativity. It all seemed so overwhelming. I’ve had it on the back burner for a while now. So when the opportunity came from My Memories to review their digital scrapbooking software I was ecstatic!
After my initial hiccup with picture placement (my computer was storing them in the wrong orientation, boo!) I had a lot of fun playing around with the program. From the pre-packaged theme pages to the flexibility of starting from scratch, I found the program easy to use and very intuitive. I put together a little video of a page I created from a picture of Scott. Enjoy!
In addition to starting from scratch, there are already designed pages that you can drop pictures into and then tweak to your liking. Several different themes come with the download of the software. I started with some pre-designed pages and after scrolling through all the options, I was inspired to make this page from scratch. I loved how it helped my creativity flow.
Now on to the good stuff: My Memories is offering a digital download of their scrapbooking software, My Memories Suite v2. If you’re like me and need a digital way to put your pictures together into a story, this software would be a great addition to your computer. So here’s how you enter.

Do you ever feel guilty when you think about taking some time out for yourself? Well, stop it! Taking time out for yourself is important to your life.
Relaxation, as studied in Psychology, refers to intentional inactivity, where a person performs active or passive exercises to decrease mental and physical stress. Being too tense or living with too much stress has been shown through research to have a significant negative impact on our lives, leading to physical illnesses:
- high blood pressure
- fatigue
- headaches
- sore and tight muscles
… as well as many psychological problems:
- inappropriate or misdirected emotions
- confusion
- difficulty concentrating
- burn-out
Taking time for yourself to relax can improve your quality of life, reduce the physical effects of stress on your body, improve your psychological functioning, and make you a better mom.
So, how do you take time out for yourself when life as a mom is SO busy?
First of all, you don’t need long stretches of time to reap the benefits of relaxing. Several 10-20 minute “time-outs” throughout the day can work wonders for your stress levels. During those small relaxation sessions, you can meditate, do some breathing exercises, or simply lie down and focus on relaxing the muscles in your body.
Then, once a week, try and do something fun for yourself. Here are a few inexpensive ways to take time for yourself:
- Turn up your favorite music and dance
- Read a good book in a hot bubble bath
- Rent a great movie
- Take a walk on the beach or at the park
- Spend a few hours in a bookstore that has a coffee shop
- Sit outside with a cool drink and soak up the sun
Take some time each week to make yourself a priority and rejuvenate your soul. Your family will love the more peaceful and relaxed you.
