This week the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is working to get the word out about proper car seat safety guidelines for children. Is your child in the right seat?
Today there is a Twitter chat at 2 pm ET to discuss child safety. I love to do Twitter chats with Tweetdeck. You can follow the chat by searching #therightseat.
On Saturday, Sept 21 locations around the country will have certified child passenger safety technicians available to inspect your car seat installation for free. Find a location near you by visiting safercar.gov/therightseat and searching in your state.
Car accidents are a leading killer of children 1-13. We learned so much when Sammi was a baby and we had our car seat installation inspected. They also helped us know how tight the straps should be, when to move them up and where the straps and buckles should be on our child to be safe and most effectively protect her.
I’ve posted before about car seat safety. This is a topic I think where we, as parents, can and should do all in our power to keep our kids in the proper car/booster seat. I hope you’ll join me in providing the safest driving environment for our children!
