It’s profound, you’ll see.
With Spring in the air, Brent and I have been talking about ways to get healthier. We got bikes and have been having fun riding them. But, where we live is so hilly that I’m just not strong enough to hook the trailer up to my bike so I can take the girls out myself. Disappointing.
One night as we were climbing into bed, I think it was around 1:30 am, I had profound insight into a strategy that would change our lives.
More sleep
More exercise
Less food
It’s revolutionary, I know.
So far I’ve done a little better with less food. I’ve also been getting more sleep {in the form of naps} though I haven’t been getting to bed too much earlier. It’s the more exercise that’s been giving me some trouble.
Earlier this month Oh Amanda hatched a plan to get up early and go for a walk outside while it is still dark and before her little ones wake up. I was inspired and gave it a try one morning. Leaving my house at 6:45 is not early enough! As I was coming back, I ran into high school traffic. O a hilly, slightly winding road with NO sidewalks, I feared for my life a little bit. I haven’t convinced myself to get up earlier, but I think that should be my goal for this week.
How do you work exercise or physical fitness into your days? I’m looking for ideas so please feed me all yours!
Happy Monday

So glad I inspired you!
I am SO ridiculously excited that I have walked 5 out of the last 7 days (one of those days was raining & the other was Sunday) and I walked this morning! The best part is I get a shower as the kids are getting up and I feel AWAKE. This is a huge thing for me. Usually I’m grumbling to the kitchen at 8am to cook.
Anywhoo, I think the main point is finding what works for you. I had NO idea this worked for me until I did it. And it is really been revolutionary for my household. I love your More More Less idea. Sounds like one of those great things that you can stick to!
Well, getting a dog has definitely helped with MAKING me get out and exercise a little, as she needs a walk every day. I don’t necessarily recommend it as a health regimen, though, since she’s also a ton of work!
I think I’m finding that if exercise isn’t at home or super easy to do, I just won’t do it. Getting dressed, ready, into a car, and having to DRIVE somewhere to exercise? Yeah, not for me. This is something I struggle with, too, so I wish you much luck. I’m also TOTALLY with you on the “more sleep” thing. I’m terrible at that, and the truth is, too little sleep messes with your metabolism and emotional eating habits. It’s a “freebie” in terms of better health to get more sleep, so I need to start that, too.
I totally agree with the more sleep part! Hopefully it will help me do better on my tests.
That sounds like a great plan!!
I definitely need to do the more sleep and exercise parts too! The hard part is getting them in. I’m having to wait on some health issues to work out before I hit exercising hard, and so far I’m doing the same thing you are on the sleep—trying to fit in a nap!
I do have a treadmill, though, and sometimes I can squeeze in 30 minutes on there while a VeggieTales movie is on!

Thanks for all the encouragement! I’m planning on turning in early tonight so hopefully I can see 6am and a walk outside!
And Jennifer, I’d love to get an elliptical. I could totally justify watching an hour of TV every night! Ah, one day.
I need:
More Exercise
Less Food
Less Sleep
Getting up in the mornings is my biggest challenge… once I get that down, I can add the exercise and food portions!
