One Less Present to Worry About!
I received a flattering email the other week wondering if I’d like to work with VTech for the holiday season. I was excited about the possibility. I’ve recently been wondering if it’s time to introduce a few more techy toys into Sammi’s collection. I’d looked at VTech’s Bugsby Reading System and at LeapFrog’s ClickStart but was a bit hesitant about making the transition.
I read through the press release describing the various products they have released for the holiday gift-giving season. My attention was drawn to a Ride and Learn Giraffe Bike (18-36 months) that Elli is just getting old enough for. The review included in the press release says, “The buttons are very easy to push and we love that their are so many animals to choose from!… I love the whole “keep kids active” idea…This line of toys is setting a good message and we are thinking of getting [my son] the “weights” so he can use his instead of mine when we work out! – Amanda, Lady Evelyns’ Blog“
I like the sound of that! I’ve tried to work out a few times while the girls are awake and it’s always Elli that dashes my hopes of exercising for longer than 5 minutes. I was offered my choice of toy to review or to giveaway. After giving a lot of thought to the matter, I was filled with the gift-giving spirit of the season. So, although I’ve not tested this product myself, I’ve agreed to host the giveaway on behalf of VTech.

What about letting them walk the family dog in the backyard for 10 to 15 minutes a day or so?

Araceli will be at the giraffe’s age before we know it! Amazing how fast it goes. Since Araceli is experiencing an explosion of movement, WE get a work out just following her on all fours as she crawls and pulls up onto things. But we try to take her on walks and get outside so that, from the beginning, she knows that outside time is important.
My youngest will be old enough for that all too soon!
My favorite way to keep kids active is to limit screen time and require outdoor play time. Between those two, I don’t have to order them to do a lot of active play.
I don’t believe in winning free things, but look . . . here I go anyway …. for the children. WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO! Pick me! Pick me!
That looks like a great toy.
I think children develop in many ways when they are kept active. They are working on their fine/gross motor skills, social, and cognitive skills. It helps them thrive in many ways and encourages them to live a healthy lifestyle. We can help keep our children active by dancing around with them, playing with them outside, having imaginary play time, and so much more. This toy looks like an entertaining way to keep children active. I’d love for Madalyn to have one. (even though she is a little young now, she’ll be able to use it before I know it)
That is so cute! My kids would love it! Thank you!

Keeping kids active (especially TODDLERS) can be a HUGE challenge, maimly because their attention span is still so short and they have unlimited energy – or so it seems! For the days they are stuck inside due to weather (or whatever!)
– wish I had a way to gain more entries…………! Oh well, My Daughter-in-law hopes I’m lucky!
There are some great DVD’s out there (Wiggles, Elmo, Sesame Street to name a few) that encourage children to follow along as the march, reach, jump etc. while singing/counting and participating. And the Wii has some new games that encourage movement, too – and then there’s THIS FABULOUS V-Tech Giraffe which my Grandson would LOVE (& His pregnant Mommy would be ever so grateful for!). PLEASE enter me – no “Twittering”, Facebooking, Stumbling or Kirtsy-ing – (don’t have a computer @ home

My boy would love something like this. Better than just watching TV he might actually learn something and get some exercise.

My two girls would love this. They are very active. To keep my kids active during the winter play down in the basement. We have balls and tricycles down there (It is unfinished)
My son would love this. I love active video games like this. They have them at the kids care at the gym we go to. We do dance parties at our house to stay active in the winter. We put on music and dance around silly. In the summer it’s a lot of time at the park.

We keep the kids active in winter by making sledding in our yard FUN. We have a bonfire going so you always stay warm, hot chocolate ready whenever someone “just needs it” and me (Dad) is always out there singing silly songs or Christmas songs.
